Walkabout: Everyday Education

Join Zach and Rebecca, two of the instagrammers behind Everyday Education, for a free walkabout of their inaugural exhibition at Museum of African Design. Hear stories of their journey via public transport, the 20+ schools they visited, and the people they met along the way!

It's walking distance from Market on Main, so make sure to grab some food and visit MOAD!  The tour is free.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
Nelson Mandela

We believe education is important: it can maintain the status quo or challenge, liberate and transform. Who are the people across Southern Africa wielding this powerful weapon? Three photographers traveled over 4000 kilometers via public transport to celebrate and share stories of Southern African schooling. Journey with us to meet the leaders and learners of Southern African education.

Through the instagram accounts of @stickylittleleaves (Rebecca Crook, Joburg/Nairobi), @diaryofzach (Zach Louw, Cape Town), @samvox (Sameer Satchu, Dar Es Salaam), Everyday Education explores the stories of resilience in the classroom throughout in Sub-Saharn Africa. Visitors have the opportunity to participate in a mock classroom experience, and to contribute photographs, artefacts, and written anecdotes about their own education interactions.
